Troubleshoot Through the Receiver System Operation Log

Once the Tersus Oscar receiver is turned on, it will automatically record the system operation log. If the customer's receiver encounters some problems with the operation of the machine, you can download the system log and send it back to Tersus technical support to solve the problem. The steps are as follows:

Material preparation: an Oscar receiver, a USB drive, and an OTG cable.

1. Use the OTG cable to connect the Oscar receiver and USB drive. Turn on Oscar, press FN button to switch down to Device Info, press the power button to enter.


2. Press the FN button to switch down to the Disk Management option, and press the power button to enter.


3. Switch down to select the Download Log option and press the power button to confirm. The screen will prompt “Whether to confirm?” click confirm.



4. After clicking Confirm, the Downloading interface will appear. Wait for a period of time, the “Finished” prompts on the interface, indicating that the system log has been downloaded and stored in the USB drive.



5. Connect the USB drive to the computer and open it, you can see the system log file. Just send it back to Tersus for technical analysis.

What is the principle of GNSS positioning?

Satellite based positioning relies on measuring distance between satellite and receivers. With known satellite position and measured distance between satellite and receiver, the coordinate of receiver can be calculated. However, the electromagnetic signals emitted by satellites are perturbed by atmosphere and clock errors, which degrade GNSS positioning accuracy. There are two types of positioning mode, one is point position and the other is relative position (see Fig 1). Point positioning includes standard point positioning (SPP) and precise point positioning (PPP). Their major difference is whether use the carrier phase observation. Relative positioning also includes two types: DGPS and RTK. Their difference is the latter one uses carrier phase observation as well. Relative positioning cancels most error sources in distance measurement by making difference between two receivers, so it is more simple and reliable, but it only measures relative position. In practice, the coordinate of
